Similie proudly sponsors Australasian AID Conference

Event to be held in Canberra Feb 2020

Dili, 15 February 2020

Similie is excited to announce that for the first time we will be sponsoring, exhibiting and speaking at the prominent Australasian AID Conference (AAC), to be held in Canberra, from 17 to 19 of February 2020.

The AAC, organised in partnership with The Asia Foundation, aims to bring together researchers from across Australia, the Pacific, Asia and beyond who are working on aid and international development policy to share insights, promote collaboration, and help develop the research community. This is the 4th time the conference will beheld, which this year is expecting over 600 attendees and has been established as Australia’s premier aid and development conference. The conference will include several key note speakers each day, followed by ten concurrent panel sessions.

The conference will be held at Crawford School of Public Policy at The Australian National University. Similie sponsors the event along with the Australian Government and Australian Aid, and will be exhibiting in the foyer of the Crawford School. It will display its tech solutions and do live demonstrations of its products Ai – IoT device for data capturing – and One – a cloud-based data management platform built to ease the life of organisations who manage large data sets and need to accelerate analysis and decision making.

Similie will make other significant contributions to the event: Craig McVeigh, Similie’s CEO, along with three other panel lists, will present a paper in a panel session named “Tech inDevelopment Practice”. Similie will elaborate on the benefits of using IoT and cloud computing to improve water supply service delivery and livelihoods through better early warning systems.

Craig McVeigh reveals: “We are excited about this opportunity to showcase and highlight our approach to improving livelihoods of communities through our innovative technologies. It will be a great networking opportunity for Similie too. We’ve already fully booked our time with meetings both before and after the conference.”

Adam Smith, Similie’s co-founder and CTO adds: “We will absolutely return in 2021 so as to present our successes of 2020. We believe this conference will be a catalyst for Similie. We are on the forefront of something big, and it’s time we tell our story to the broader community of international development practitioners. We aim to implement more projects across the region and AAC is our first step.”
