Marie Stopes, operates a National Youth Hotline in Timor-Leste, providing critical and confidential information to young people about sexual reproductive health and as well as referrals to clinics when needed.
The Hotline data was previously stored in a MS Access file, which was too complex and time-consuming for staff to update and manage, resulting in poor data capture and reporting.
Similie was called to put in place an agile, affordable and easy-to-use cloud- based Data Management System to allow Marie Stopes to have access to its data any time and to build an efficient real-time reporting tool.
Since the system was implemented in January 2018, each call to the hotline is recorded, analysed and reported while the operator speaks to the client, like in any modern Call Centre. Likewise, the operator can issue a referral number to the caller that can be presented to Marie Stopes Clinic, allowing health carers having access to all relevant information about the patient’s case.
In January 2020, the Youth Hotline database held a record number of 140,000 registered phone calls. The new collaborative Data Management System has enabled Marie Stopes to capture data more accurately, gain richer and real-time insights to their data and provide a better service to their clients.
